As a filmmaker and photographer, I attempt to capture images to make sense of the time we find ourselves in: starting from what is deeply personal, and working outward toward the world we share.
I look for ambiguity in the most positive sense: layered meanings to engage our imagination and evoke emotion. As somebody who shares the double cultural identity between the East and West, I've been welcomed and neglected by both worlds. I seek a visual language that holds both worlds in the same frame, not to resolve the distance, but to find what quietly rhymes across it.
The most honest stories live somewhere between what happened and what we imagine: a state of mind where we're conscious of where we are, that also offers enough space to dream. I'm drawn to the blurry edge where documentary and fiction collapse into each other, where a staged frame feels truer than a candid one, and a real moment reads like a dream. I move intuitively, building images and stories from the inside out.
